Understanding nicotine content

Every can shows two nicotine figures, and they do not mean the same thing. Anyone who mixes them up can easily pick a variety that is considerably stronger than expected.

Milligrams per gram

This is the concentration in the material — how much nicotine is in one gram of pouch mass. This figure is printed large on many cans, but on its own says little: a pouch with a high concentration that weighs only 0.3 g contains less nicotine than a weaker pouch weighing 0.9 g.

Milligrams per pouch

This is the amount actually contained in a single pouch — concentration times pouch weight. This is the figure to compare. We show it for every item, including in the overview, so that two cans can be compared without converting.

The five levels

To allow comparison across all brands, the varieties are divided into five levels. The basis is always the nicotine per pouch:

Level Nicotine per pouch
Mild up to 6 mg
Regular 6 – 10 mg
Strong 10 – 16 mg
Very Strong 16 – 25 mg
Extra Strong from 25 mg

The level is shown on every product page as a bar scale and as a word. Using the filters in the overview, you can select by it directly.
